Brown Recluse Spider Bite Symptoms

Being bitten by a Brown Recluse spider feels like a pinprick, which you may not notice. Reactions to being bitten depends on two things, firstly how much venom you have been injected with, and also how sensitive you are to it. Some victims of being bitten aren't affected and see only is a small red mark which heals without further problems. However, others either feel the effects of necrosis (the tissue being killed by the venom) immediately or within eight hours of being bitten. The pain felt is stinging and then followed by acute pain, possibly followed by restlessness, itching, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or even shock. At first the bite area usually swells up with a white blister in the center. The area then gets larger and hardens. The wound is red around the edges, becomes dry and is blue-gray or blue-white in color. In extreme cases, the wound becomes deep due to the dying tissue and reveals tissue underneath. The abdomen, buttocks, and thighs, are most likely to suffer severe necrosis than any other part of the body.

Brown Recluse spider bites can kill - the elderly and young children, plus people whose physical condition is poor.

For treatment, you should seek medical attention on the same day you were bitten. It's recommended capture and take the spider with you.
